Sciatica saga…

And so it continues…..
I thought things were going rather well ~ in fact, they were going rather well; I was getting much more flexible again, less pain, more movement and exercise in the form of walking and the exercises given to me by my Physiotherapist. Then a couple of weeks back I came down with an upset tummy and things have all gone to pot again. I had to cancel my physio appointment for that week and couldn’t get another one until yesterday because of the Easter holiday. By the time I went yesterday, it felt like I was almost back to square one again.
This time, the Physiotherapist did some “hands-on” treatment ~ and to be honest, my dears, I could have cried with the pain! She showed me some more stretching exercises, which I have been doing as often as I can when I’m laying down, and has put on more strapping. Do you know, when I came out of the clinic, I felt even worse than I had when I went in, and really struggled to lift my leg up to get into my sister’s car! When I got home, I just had to go up to bed for a couple of hours but the miraculous thing was that when I got up again, I was able to come downstairs and actually sit in my armchair for a much longer period of time before the discomfort started up again!
This morning, whilst I’m obviously not bouncing around like the proverbial two year old, I do feel so much better than I have done this past week or more, thank the Lord.
Perhaps there is some truth in the old adage “no pain, no gain” after all!
